location: Ruzinov is District II of Bratislava, located just to the east of the Old Town. All these qualities and building of the new business district in southwestern part of Ruzinov make it the quickest rising area of the city and a star of real investment in Bratislava.
transport: Ruzinov has excellent bus and tram links for the city center and it takes 5 min. to get to the city center by car. Ruzinov is directly linked to highways D1 (all Slovak destinations) and D2 (Prague and all destinations in Czech republic) and motorways leading to Budapest and Vienna. International airport of Bratislava is on its Ruzinov’s eastern border. Ruzinov also houses Bratislava’s main bus station.
schools: Ruzinov offers full selection of education institutions. Among them 7 nurseries, 9 elementary school, 23 public and 8 private colleges and 1 private university. Medical Department of public Comenius University has its research facilities located in the policlinic.
sports: Ruzinov also houses several sports insitutions, such as Ice–hockey Stadium of Vladimir Dzurilla, football club Rapid, sports club Ruzinov and Zone of Unusual Sports (lacrosse, in-line hockey, in line skating, skateboarding, U-ramps, BMX riding, FAM boxes and more). There is a new ice-rink and public children sports facilities at Strkovec Lake. Swimming is possible on the Strkovec lake or in the local indoors swimming pools. Gyms can be found throughout the district.
culture: There is a newly reconstructed historical Summer Theater at Strkovec Lake, that houses numerous shows, fests, concerts and celebrations, and various cultural facilities throughout the district. There are several public libraries located in Ruzinov and newly opened Regional Information Center with fully digitalized study rooms for public.
community life: Ruzinov has established community and community culture. It has its own newspaper (distributed in various areas of Bratislava), highly regarded community TV with live news and own production of programs, well organized citizen forum and close relationship between the district council and citizens. Numerous public celebrations and festivals are being organized every year creating real spirit of community life. The most interesting of them are Annual Feast (autumn market, involves lots of eating and drinking), Fish Fest (specialized market focused on fish, fish products and meals), Folk Fest (festival of folk music), St. Nicholas Parade (for children), Children’s Day Celebrations (last years theme was Love Between Us focused on disabled children). There are also visits being organized by the council to partner cities of Ruzinov all around Europe, normally for children suffering from alergies (Mediterranean) and children from socially weaker families (various sites).
shopping: with new developments rising in the area, Ruzinov quickly becomes shopping paradise of Bratislava. It already houses two out of three largest shopping malls in Bratislava and there are more shopping facilities being built.
Future potential: Central Business District
Ruzinov has been designated to be at the primary residential area for so much needed Central Business District of Bratislava. Business District zone lies to the south and southwest of Ruzinov, with several office space developments already in place. There are Apollo Business Center I and II, and City Business Center I – IV, which offer more than 200 000 square meters of office space at the moment and more is to be built. Southwestern part of Ruzinov is designed to become the heart of business activities in Bratislava and Slovakia. It is to be the counterpart of London‘s City in Bratislava, seated between The Old Town and Ruzinov’s residential areas.
